Terms of use
Last updated 6 October 2026
These terms cover your use of Sheet Music Analysis (the Claude plugin, the ChatGPT plugin, the analysis server and this website). "We" means the people who run Sheet Music Analysis. By using it you agree to them.
The service
Sheet Music Analysis drafts a harmonic analysis of a score you provide and draws it on the engraved page. It is free. It may change, be limited (for example by a daily capacity) or stop at any time, with or without notice.
A tool for your own study
Sheet Music Analysis analyses a score that you provide, for your own study, teaching or composing. It does not supply, sell or share scores. Each page it draws is an annotated excerpt of at most 32 bars, returned only to you.
Your scores
- By sending a score, you confirm that you are allowed to use it this way: for example, it is in the public domain, it is your own work, or you have a copy you may use for study.
- You are responsible for the scores you send. If a claim is made against us because of a score you sent, you agree to cover the costs it causes us, as far as the law allows.
- You keep all rights to your scores. You allow us to process and briefly store them only to produce your analysis, as described in the privacy policy.
- The annotated pages are for your own study and teaching. Do not use them to distribute someone else's music.
Copyright complaints
If you believe a score sent through Sheet Music Analysis infringes your copyright, email support@sheetmusicanalysis.com with: the work you own; the piece, date and platform involved, so we can find the file; your contact details; a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised; and a statement that your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorised to act for the owner. We will remove the material promptly. Uploaded scores are deleted automatically within about two days in any case. Anyone who repeatedly sends material that infringes copyright may be blocked from the service.
Acceptable use
Do not use the service to overload or disrupt it, to get around its limits, to probe it for security weaknesses without permission, or for anything unlawful.
No guarantee of accuracy
Analyses are produced by a neural network and reviewed by a chat model. They can be wrong, and music analysis often allows more than one reading. Use them as a starting point for your own judgement, not as an answer key for graded work.
Disclaimer and limitation of liability
The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from your use of the service or its analyses.
Other services
You reach Sheet Music Analysis through Claude (Anthropic) or ChatGPT (OpenAI). Your use of those products is governed by their own terms.
Changes
We may update these terms. The new version will be posted here with a new date; continuing to use the service means you accept it.
